Idiot jiggler

I have to let you know the level at which USB dongle inventors seem to think consumers are at.
Behold, … wait for it… the Mouse Jiggler!
Want to know exactly what a Mouse Jiggler does? It jiggles your mouse to prevent your screensaver from kicking in.
Where do you begin? Why swap 15 seconds of your life which is what it would take to turn your screensaver off with a pointless piece of crap at a cost of $30? Did market research turn up users who would consider purchasing one?
Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself.

Well, the very specialized use case they describe on their website kind of makes sense.
at work i have two computers on my desk. i work in a web development shop (which is part of a much larger company) and do dev/qa/troubleshooting/whatever’s needed. a lot of times i’m actively using one computer while referring to documents/tailing logs/whatever. unfortunately my corporate IT overlords have configured all PCs to sleep and LOCK when inactive for a few minutes. I cannot disable this setting. i can’t tell you how many times i’ve been watching a log file while interacting with an app, only to have my log viewing machine lock on me at the critical moment. this is where the Mouse Jiggler becomes worth its weight in gold. it’s true, though, that the appeal is rather limited, which prolly explains the relatively high price.
