[UPDATE#2] Decided to no longer use theseed.com

June 29th, 2007 | Posted in Freelancing

Just spoke to Lisa again, who does listen to what you have to say and is a credit to the company, and we had an honest discussion on where the system falls short. She agreed and apparently some of which will be implemented at a later date. The two features I mentioned were to have the ability to pre-approve leads before accepting them and to have a minimum budget.

Three leads later, and I am no where nearer landing work. One client wanted a site built for next to no money, another has decided to postpone the project for a while so my hopes rest with the third lead.

theseed still think the postponed project is still a valid one on the off chance that it will become active again later, In my experience, postponed projects rarely do.

Summary, stick with the traditional routes of networking and making yourself known. I personally think that if you hit the jackpot early, then you can recoup money spent on lost leads, it is a lottery though and you could potentially spend a lot of money before landing one. In my opinion, theseed is geared up for larger agencies who can afford to absorb the cost of lost leads.
