Leading a career as a developer in what can be described as a new media industry, music plays a big part in daily office life. Many hours are spent listening to a broad spectrum of music from obscure Japanese jazz to mainstream monotonous background noise (aka top 40).
My issue is this, I am a Rush fan. Have been since i was allowed to handle my brothers vinyl Rush collection. I have seen them in concert 3 times and they take up a large percentage of my scrobbler collection. As a result my contribution to the daily play list is somewhat limited, why? because it ain’t COOL!. A mere suggestion of playing Rush is followed by a groan.. moan.. groan.. moan.. moan.. groan and then a moan.
Being a Rush fan in the new media industry is a lonely existence. Surprisingly, I have yet to meet another Rush fan, or even someone who has even heard of them. I need to feel like I am not alone, so I need your help.
What i am after is a sign that there are others in the world like me, and if there are then say hello and show the gel haired flip flop wearing Coldplay one week Snow Patrol the next lemmings that we will meet them on Brighton beach. (Quadrophenia)
I want to hear from other Rush fans that:
- Are involved in making web sites, so thats designers, developers, managers etc
- Called Fiaz. (not essential, just nice to know :) )
Surely, I can not be the only one. There has to be others. Anyone?
Hi man. I was just taking a look at your blog and noticed the Music category. I got really curious to read what you could say about that and realized that you are Rush fan. Man, Rush a really awesome band. Howcome three guys can do so much noise. The three of them are such great musicians. I can´t stop listening to Animate, Bravado, YYZ…those are songs to listen eternally….time and time again.
