Remember the scene in “Minority Report” where Tom Cruise’s character analyses the evidence provided by the Pre-Cogs using the touch screen interface? That has now become a reality. (Surprisingly) Microsoft are behind a new technology called Surface which allows multi-touch surface interaction to control anything that can be manipulated through a digital interface.

The demonstration shows how you can take a photo and by placing the camera and your mobile phone on a coffee table you can transfer between them without the need for a PC and usb cables.

I normally don’t get blown away by technology, I tend to get no more excited than “that’s nice”, but this truly is amazing. The potential uses for this are near infinite. With more and more of our lives being transferred onto digital devices, having the ability to control and interact with them without having to sit in front of a computer will be awesome.
